Ladies and gentlemen, it's about that time...
The countdown to the "official" beginning of summer break stands at about 39 hours right now...can you believe it? Well, this summer sure will be interesting, because I will be working probably most of the day lifeguarding different shifts and possibly working between 40-50 hours a week, which turns into some great money. I replied to an e-mail earlier today about taking a 5:30 AM shift that pays about $2 more per hour, so if I get that a few times a week, that's just more money...yeah baby! So, you ask what I've been up to since the Greatest Day Of The Year? Well, the family came up here on Saturday the 29, and we went out to dinner. Woke up early Sunday morning for a First Communion/Baptism for two cousins in Iowa, and then came back to NIU late Sunday evening. Monday evening I attended a Student Ministry Team meeting (which I will be a part of next year) and to arrange the groups I will be working with next year. Most likely I will work with the high school students once again and then probably the Social Justice and Activism team, so it will be a bit busy...
Today I had to "chaperone" students while they studied from 5 AM - 9 AM...basically all Nick and I did was right stupid crazy stories in the "log" about false happenings...surely they will get laughs out of anyone who reads them...Word of warning: Don't eat M&M's and Chips Ahoy with Lemonade and Hot Chocolate at 5 AM...I know, I went to volunteer probably more for the free food than to volunteer, but Nick and I said we'd work together next semester at the same time...maybe we'll do a double shift from 1 AM - 9 AM if our schedules work out...
Finals: Well, that's probably the "most important" thing people are worried about this time of year...For me, I've actually got a shot at straight A's, which would be awesome...I've been done with Philosophy since last Wednesday, took my Political Science exam and handed in a final history paper yesterday, and must take a Coms final Wednesday and hand in an "evaluation of my works" for English on Thursday morning...after that, I'm GONE!!!
I also have set preliminary goals to accomplish some amazing feats in about three to four years. After watching David Blaine's attempt at holding his breath for nine minutes and the other feats he accomplishes, I have tried to tell myself, that, if given the time, I would like to run across country and then bike the return trip (California to Maine, and back) to raise money for cancer research foundations and other charities...Obviously, this would take enormous amounts of physical and mental preparation, but I believe that I could definitely accomplish it if given about two months to do so...and who knows? I might make the news and become somewhat of a celebrity.
So far so good with everything personal...coming up on two months in the relationship on Friday, which I've got something planned for...and it won't be a surprise because she already knows...
I've got to start packing and getting things set for my return, which most likely will take place late morning on Thursday, and according to my secratary, the parade route has been set...so I hope to see all you out there...
That is all...
